Niki User Guide

Be Specific and Contextual

Just like when speaking with NECA specialists, the more detail you give, the better Niki can respond. “Garbage In, Garbage Out” couldn’t be more true here.
Example:
"Tell me about wiring in kitchens."
"What are the requirements for wiring systems in damp locations within commercial kitchens?"

Fine-Tune Your Prompt Based on Niki’s Response

  • Too broad? Narrow the focus. Example: “Focus only on maximum disconnection times in final subcircuits per Clause 2.5.4.”
  • Too brief? Ask for more detail. Example: “Expand with examples for both single-phase and three-phase installations.”
  • Off-topic? Restate your intent. Example: “Focus on underground wiring requirements under Clause 3.11.5, not above-ground.”
  • Too technical? Simplify the language. Example: “Explain Clause 5.3.5 requirements for lighting circuits as if to a 1st year apprentice.”

Request the Right Format

State exactly how you want your answer — bullet list, step-by-step guide, summary, etc.
Example:
“Summarise the installation requirements for RCDs in residential dwellings under AS3000 in a table showing location, requirement and exception.”
Think of a chat session like a conversation.

If you’re still asking about the same subject, keep typing in the same chat by using the SEND button
Niki will remember what you’ve already discussed, so you don’t have to repeat yourself.
Example:
You ask: “Explain Clause 3.9.4 in AS/NZS 3000.”
Next question in the same chat: “Now give me an example calculation for that clause.” and press the round blue Send button.
Niki will use the earlier answer to help with the new one.

If you want to ask about something completely different, start a new chat by clicking on the New Chat button
Niki won’t remember the old conversation, so it will give you a fresh, related answer.

Example:
Old chat: “Explain Clause 2.9.7 requirements for switchboard labelling.”
New chat: “List the key changes in AS/NZS 3000 Amendment 3 for residential installations.”
These topics aren’t linked, so a new chat keeps things cleaner.
