NECA Welcomes NSW Liberals and Nationals refreshed Shadow Ministry
NECA have noted and congratulate The NSW Liberals and Nationals announcement of a refreshed Shadow Ministry, presenting a strong Shadow Cabinet team and advance a clear policy agenda for New South Wales.
NECA looks forward to working with the new Shadow Ministry which brings together senior parliamentary experience and emerging talent, with a renewed focus on economic growth, infrastructure development and the practical delivery of services that support families, households, small businesses, and regional communities across the State.
With just over 14 months until the next NSW election, the Opposition says the team will prioritise delivery over slogans, with an emphasis on long term planning, reliable public services and credible responses to housing supply and population growth pressures.
The refreshed line up reflects a deliberate emphasis on portfolios central to infrastructure delivery, including planning and housing, transport and roads, energy, skills and training, local government, emergency services, and regional development. These portfolios will be critical to unlocking housing supply, supporting major project delivery, and strengthening the State’s economic capacity.
NECA has noted and welcome the stronger alignment between infrastructure portfolios and economic development.
Kent Johns, Head of Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs at the National Electrical and Communications Association, said the reshuffle highlighted a clearer focus on infrastructure development and delivery.
“For the electrical, communications and construction sectors, the concentration on planning, housing, energy, skills and transport matters,” Mr Johns said. “These are the portfolios that determine whether projects proceed, whether skilled workers are available and whether infrastructure investment translates into real outcomes on the ground.”
Mr Johns said industry would be looking for policies that improve coordination between procurement frameworks and workforce pipelines especially.
“Infrastructure delivery depends on clear regulation, realistic timelines, and a skilled workforce. Industry will engage closely with the Shadow Ministry as policy positions are developed.” he said.
