NECA Welcomes NSW 2026 Budget

24 June 2026

NECA Welcome NSW 2026 Budget

The National Electrical and Communications Association has welcomed the announcement of the 2026-2027 NSW Budget by the Treasurer, the Hon Daniel Mookhey MLC.

NECA NSW Executive Director Mr Mark Stedfut, said the announcement recognised the current pressures being experienced by NSW businesses and their families, whilst continuing to invest in infrastructure relating to the energy transition, electrification, infrastructure and construction.

“NECA welcomes the budget handed down today, in particular measures introduced to assist business owners with increasing operating costs, such as much welcomed toll relief and vehicle registration rebates through the Transport Availability Package, both of which will benefit tradespeople and apprentices who do not have the ability to utilise public transport.”

“We also welcome the continued investment in skills funding to continue to provide fee free training for the Electrotechnology sector through the allocation $3.4 billion of funding to TAFE and skills investment.”

Mr Stedfut said the reform would assist businesses already facing substantial cost pressures arising from insurance and fuel, coupled with increasing costs as a result of compliance, workforce shortages and rapidly evolving technical requirements linked to electrification and renewable energy deployment.

“NECA looks forward to continuing to work with the NSW Government to ensure we develop a skilled workforce to assist in implementing the Government’s investment in electrification and transition to a clean energy economy,” he said.
