NECA congratulates Queensland President David James on his appointment to the Electrical Safety Board (ESB)
The National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) is pleased to announce that David James, President of NECA Queensland, has been appointed to the Queensland Electrical Safety Board (ESB) by the Honourable Jarrod Bleijie MP, Deputy Premier, Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning and Minister for Industrial Relations.
David James’ appointment further strengthens NECA’s commitment to promoting the highest standards of electrical safety and professionalism across Queensland. As President of NECA Queensland, David has been instrumental in representing the interests of electrical and communications contractors and driving improvements in industry safety, standards, and compliance.
NECA CEO Mr Oliver Judd stated, “David’s leadership, experience, and ongoing commitment to the safety of our sector make him a tremendous asset to the Electrical Safety Board. His appointment reflects NECA’s dedication to ensuring the voice of industry is heard at the highest level of regulatory decision-making.”
Reflecting on his appointment, David James said, “Serving as President of NECA Queensland has shown me first-hand the challenges and opportunities facing our industry. Joining the Electrical Safety Board is both a privilege and a significant responsibility. The Board, alongside the Electrical Safety Office, plays an essential role in safeguarding the wellbeing of workers and the community. I am acutely aware of the trust placed in me and will work collaboratively to ensure Queensland’s electrical safety regime remains practical, contemporary, and effective. My focus will be on open engagement, evidence-based policy, and continued improvement for the benefit of everyone in our state.”
NECA also acknowledges the ongoing work of the Electrical Safety Board and its committees, whose efforts underpin the success of Queensland’s electrical safety framework. The ESB's primary function is to advise and make recommendations to the Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations regarding policies, strategies, and legislative arrangements for electrical safety in Queensland.
NECA extends its thanks to Deputy Premier, the Honourable Jarrod Bleijie MP, for recognising the value of industry expertise and the importance of a strong partnership between government, industry and regulators in delivering safer outcomes for all Queenslanders.
