NECA welcomes Federal Government investment in local state infrastructure

The National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) has praised the Federal Government for providing billions of dollars of stimulus to support infrastructure projects across the ACT, Northern Territory, Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia and West Australia, after NECA called for similar measures in its Four Point Plan to Power the Economy.

Suresh Manickam, CEO of NECA, said:

“Each of these projects creates direct and indirect job opportunities and lays the foundations for building a stronger Australia as we emerge from this crisis.  Whether it’s a new road, railway track or bridge, electrical contractors will play a key role in getting these projects up and running.

“But let’s not forget that there are many smaller firms that can’t work on these projects – we need to see urgent support that is tailored to create opportunities for these businesses too which are the lifeblood of the Australian economy.

“At NECA we are working closely with government to ensure stimulus reaches businesses of all sizes by backing initiatives that support smaller residential and commercial projects as outlined in our Four Point Plan.”
