If you’re considering a career in the electrical or communications cabling sector, you couldn’t have chosen a more exciting and diverse industry.
There are a number of different ways to get started:
Apprenticeships combine practical work with structured training to give you both a nationally recognised qualification and the experience you need for your chosen career. An electrical apprenticeship generally takes four years to complete and traineeships take one to two years.
Apprenticeships are formal contracts and these contracts set out the training and supervision an employer must provide for the employee, as well as the employee's obligations as an apprentice. Your training can be delivered on-the-job, off-the-job or a combination of both. Off-the-job training is done at NECA Colleges, TAFE Colleges or other approved training providers.
For general information about apprenticeships visit the Australian Apprenticeships website http://www.australianapprenticeships.gov.au/.
