Raising Awareness
On December 27th, 2024, we lost Mitchell Gordon—an exceptional young man—far too soon at the age of just 28. Mitch was deeply loved and respected, as reflected by the 550 people who came together both in person and online to celebrate his life. His warmth, kindness, and character left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Mitch began his electrical apprenticeship with BSH Electrical in July 2015, studying Electrotechnology at TasTAFE. His dedication and talent were recognised in 2019 when he was nominated for the NECA Apprentice of the Year award, earning third place. He continued his career as a qualified technician with BSH and later FIP Electrical, where he was known not only for his skill but for his generosity and spirit.
Tragically, the depth of Mitch’s mental health challenges was not fully understood at the time of his passing. In response, his family has committed to ensuring that Mitch’s legacy lives on.
Their hope is to drive positive change in how we talk about, understand, and support mental health.
This charity golf day is about more than just sport—it’s about connection, remembrance, and progress. It’s a chance to honour Mitch and others we’ve lost, to have fun, and most importantly, to continue normalising conversations around mental health. Together, we can help build a future where seeking support is met with understanding, and where no one feels alone.
