“There are a number of factors negatively impacting the nation’s apprentices which are resulting in poor completion rates, and contributing to the labour shortages Australian industry is currently experiencing,” said NECA CEO Oliver Judd.
“The appointment of the Honourable Iain Ross AO and Ms Lisa Paul AO to conduct an in-depth review into the support, conditions, course delivery, and wage rates of apprentices is very welcome.
“If we are to foster and promote a healthy and conducive workforce, it is imperative we get the foundations correct and identify key areas for improvement.
“NECA are very of proud of the results we have achieved in this sector and look forward to the findings of the review. We welcome the opportunity to work together with government, industry, unions, and the broader VET sector in ensuring a strong and sustainable apprenticeship system, that is robust enough to develop the talent required to meet the demands of industry and provide a rewarding career path for the next generation of Australian tradespeople”.
