The expansion of this scheme will broaden the eligibility for new energy apprentices and encourage more apprentices to choose a clean energy career.
“By ensuring the New Energy Apprentice Support Payment is made available to a broader group of apprentices, the Federal Government are taking another step in shoring up the amount of new energy workers needed to meet Australia’s clean energy targets”, said Oliver Judd, CEO NECA.
“Minister O’Connor’s announcement will help direct more apprentices towards a career in clean energy and help address the labour shortage issues that are currently being experienced within the electrical and broader construction sectors. NECA look forward to delivering the next generation of clean energy apprentices to the Australian workforce and in achieving the goal of a Future Made in Australia. We’ve always had a strong relationship with Minister O’Connor and his office, and we thank him for listening to industry and directing support towards building the skills necessary for net zero transition”, said Gideon Perrott, CEO NECA Education & Careers.
