Events and Awards
Events
When you become a NECA member, your business will gain valuable exposure from NECA’s marketing activities and networking opportunities.
For example, you will have the opportunity to attend branch meetings, conferences and networking events such as golf days.
Awards
NECA's suite of awards programs covers the full spectrum of the electrotechnology industry, including contractors and their best projects, who are rewarded through our National Excellence Awards scheme, to apprentices who are recognised for their hard work and commitment to the industry via our Apprentice Awards. In addition, we showcase those young secondary school students who demonstrate a particular aptitude and passion for the electrotechnology industry and encourage them to choose a career in this dynamic sector through the Electrotechnology Secondary School Student Awards. Finally, the Trade Teacher Awards recognise the most committed teachers in our sector, who are critical to the development of tomorrow's well-skilled and informed workers.
Excellence Awards
The NECA Excellence Awards provide a rare opportunity to showcase members’ best projects to their peers, to industry and government and to the wider community. These awards are the ultimate showcase for the best in electrical and communications projects in Australia, highlighting each winners’ technical innovation, safety record or management expertise, demonstrated by their completion of complex projects on-time and on-budget, and well above the client’s expectations.
Excellence Awards across a range of categories covering domestic, voice and data, industrial and commercial are open to nominations in each state, with state winners eligible to win the National Award in their category. The Excellence Awards program starts around July each year and rolls out around the country over the following months, with the National Award winners announced each year in November.
Apprentice Awards
The annual NECA Apprentice Awards recognise the best and brightest aspiring talent in the electrotechnology industry – those senior apprentices who have demonstrated a high level of technical skill, academic achievement and commitment to developing a career in the industry.
Again, these awards are open to apprentices in each state, with the state finalists eligible for the National Awards which culminate in November each year.
Electrotechnology Secondary School Student Awards
NECA is committed to encouraging young people to choose a career in electrotechnology, and to working to ensure there is a sufficient number of skilled young workers available to meet the demand. The Electrotechnology Secondary School Student Awards recognise the achievements of young students currently enrolled in years 9, 10, 11 and 12 at a secondary school in Australia.
Trade Teacher Awards
NECA’s Trade Teacher Award is intended to recognise the outstanding contribution made by trade teachers in continuously raising the standard of education and training in our industry.
NECA directly employs thousands of apprentices through its group training schemes and represents the employers of tens of thousands of electricians throughout Australia. As such, NECA has a large interest in not only the quality of training but also the commitment and motivation of the teachers and mentors.
