About the ElectroComms Contracting Foundation
The ElectroComms Contracting Foundation is a national organisation established by the National Electrical and Communications (NECA) National Council in November 2000. The Foundation is made up of experienced and successful individuals and companies from all sectors of the electrotechnology industry that are committed to industry development.
Through the Foundation, contractors, manufacturers, wholesalers and NECA together support, inspire, identify, conduct and coordinate the most significant education and research programs for the industry.
The Foundation has already developed significant financial and philosophical support and so far industry and partners have committed more than $1 million.
These benefactors are working to enable the Foundation to:
- Promote excellence in technical expertise, managerial skills, work practices and ethics in the industry
- Lead the industry into the future giving contractors a vision of the possibilities of the technology
- Provide a lasting legacy for contractors that will enhance the profile of the industry
- Focus on developing people in the industry by providing leadership and management programs.
There are three critical components to the success of the Foundation's work:
- Employees/scholarship award winners - these are young, enthusiastic individuals who are committed to the industry and are willing to commit time and effort to study with a view to furthering their careers in the electrotechnology sector
- Employers – who support their employee through this additional study, often allowing time off to study, and provide mentoring through the process
- The ElectroComms Foundation - which provides financial assistance through scholarships to committed individuals who meet the criteria and mentoring as part of the scholarship award.
The Foundation grants post-apprenticeship awards to those entering the industry for further education in management and technical skills, having already awarded over 60 scholarships since 2002.
The Foundation has also developed a high-level leadership and management program tailored to the needs of the industry. The program will be offered to all in the industry to develop and build their management skills, to further their careers and lead the industry.
The Foundation is a vital part in the development of the electrotechnology industry and its establishment was a visionary move. It is an investment in the future of the industry.
